🖤 Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Day 1 – The First 24 Hours
- Leave the bandage or wrap on for the amount of time your artist recommends (usually a few hours, sometimes overnight if it’s Saniderm or another barrier film).
- Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.
- Gently wash the tattoo with warm water and unscented soap. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel — don’t rub.
- Let your tattoo breathe or apply a thin layer of ointment (like Aquaphor or a tattoo-specific aftercare product) if directed.
Days 2–7 – The Healing Starts
- Wash your tattoo gently 1–2 times daily.
- Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion or aftercare ointment as needed to keep it from drying out.
- Avoid picking, scratching, or peeling your tattoo, even if it itches — this is normal!
Weeks 2–4 – Keep It Clean & Moisturized
- Your tattoo will start to flake and peel like a sunburn — this is normal.
- Continue moisturizing regularly.
- Avoid soaking the tattoo (no pools, hot tubs, baths) until fully healed.
- Keep it out of direct sun and don’t apply sunscreen until the skin is completely healed.
🚫 What to Avoid While Healing
- No direct sunlight
- No swimming or soaking
- No tight or dirty clothing over the tattoo
- No scratching or picking
